Applies to persons who seek electrical licensure and have at least 7 years experience.  

Initial  

Up to 3 years. Expires on June 30 during the third year after issuance.  

$35 Application, $30 Exam, $150 Credential (credential fee is prorated for partial cycle).  

As a prerequisite to taking the Department of Commerce exam, the applicant shall provide proof of at least 1,000 hours per year for at least 7 years of experience in electrical construction work. No more than 3,000 hours and 3 years experience may be credited from approved course work.  

Signed application form and appropriate fees.  

Commerce Credentials Program  

Submit signed application and fees to Safety and Buildings Division, PO Box 7082, Madison, WI 53707-7082.  Have the chart on the application filled out and signed showing 7 years experience, 1,000 hours per year, doing electrical construction work.  Three years of full-time education in an electrical related program can be used instead of the experience.  If using education, original transcripts must be sent in.
